The New Jersey Music Expo is the brainchild of  two veterans of the New Jersey Music Scene. Joe HoldFast is one of the key players in the resurgence of the Asbury Park music scene. He has worked at many of the city's venues (both large and small) and operated HoldFast Records on Cookman Avenue, Joe and his wife Meghan recently closed their brick and mortar store and thrive on-line and via  their frequent production of and appearances at East Coast record shows.

Todd Abramson booked and operated the legendary Hoboken venue Maxwell's for many years. He is the current talent buyer for White Eagle Hall in Jersey City and a partner in TV Eye in Ridgewood, Queens. Todd also ran Telstar Records, an independent label that specialized in garage rock. As "Todd-O-Phonic Todd" he hosts a popular weekly program on the hallowed freeform station WFMU that can be heard on Saturday afternoons.  A longtime record collector, the partnership with Joe was a natural.

The New Jersey Music Expo strives to combine the various aspects of the music scene that Joe and Todd love, which encompasses a wide berth. Their debut effort, The Commotion By The Ocean, will combine retail vendors (including memorabilia, clothing and instrument sellers as well as record dealers), informative panel discussions as well as live music in the evening. The daytime festivities will take place Saturday May 14th at the elegant and ideally located Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park. This is the start of something beautiful!
